You are working as a nurse on the cardiac unit. Mr. D was recently prescribed propranolol (Inderal). You prepare his medications and start the discharge teaching plan. Your patient asks what the side effects of propranolol are. How would you respond? What nursing interventions should be implemented prior to medication administration? Your patient asks why he cannot stop the medication. How would you advise this patient? For a safe medication administration, there are six rights for a nurse, that should be checked before administering medications. “The right to a compete and clearly written order. The right to have the correct drug route and dose dispensed. (Nurses administer medications, but it’s the pharmacy’s duty to dispenses medications.) The right to have access to information. Nurses have the right to expect updated and easily accessible drug information. The right to have policies on medication administration. It is the responsibility of health care administration to provide the structure necessary for nurses to administer medications safely.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
