The benefits of accepting advice from stories told by previous generations are that they feel they have a part in raising your children. I personally love hearing all of my moms and grandmas advice. The most popular advice I have used is the cure of the evil eye also known as “ojo”. The belief is that you rub an egg all over the baby’s body while saying 10 our fathers. This is done when the child is uncontrollably crying for no apparent reason. I have used this method on my children for a very long time. The drawbacks of accepting advice from stories told by previous generations are that if you don’t do it their way you are doing it wrong. I have had many disagreements with my momma because of this. She is a firm believer in all the old wise Mexican tales. My children have never been to a lake or pool without being baptized first because she says their soul will stay there because they are not baptized. The way they can be
