iii Abstract The experimental analysis of the effects of Delta-Winglet vortex generators on the performance of a tube-fin heat exchanger is presented. The winglets were arranged in flow-up configuration, and placed directly upstream of the tube. We tested the performance of a and delta-winglet fins, and plain fins. Measurements of inlet and outlet temperatures of air and water were taken, also pressure drop through air flow path and water flow path were taken. Results showed that the heat transfer when using winglets is augmented, delta-winglets of enhances heat transfer more than delta-winglet fins. Also, we found that fan power consumption is higher for delta-winglets, in many cases fan power consumption for delta-winglets was lower than both plain and delta-winglet fins. It was also found that there is a critical point of water temperature, water flow rate, and air flow rate at which the effect for the added fin is reversed. All these results are plotted in indicating diagrams shown in chapter 4.
