This is important in the treatment process and those conditions, if they are inherited can be managed with ease. It is extremely difficult to understand persons without having a brief history of their family. Normally, the family is one of the important structures of a community and also a building block in which a community and even a country can be established on. Understanding family system theory is therefore key. The diagram below shows a family genogram, it shows the family’s brief history. This diagram can be used to establish the family’s dynamics from one generation to the other.
