ENGLISH AS A WORLD LANGUAGE 2 While Esperanto was developed with the intention of making it an international auxiliary language, English has emerged to develop a more special role in almost every country thus achieving a significant global status compared to Esperanto. In retrospect, the English language has emerged as a preferable language to be used as a global lingua franca. A world language can be defined as that language that is learned and spoken globally as a second language as well as a native language (Vaish, 2010). Asides, it is vastly geographically distributed, and also used in international organizations as well as in diplomatic relations. In hindsight, it is that language that attains a significant global status because of the special role it plays within different borders of the world. A world language, as such, acts a lingua franca in that it becomes a common language through which individuals from various diverse backgrounds and ethnicities communicate. Many benefits come with having a world language. This is mainly hinged on the fact that a world language aims at linking people world over. Thus, because it transcends different backgrounds and cultures, a world language necessitates a faster communication between individuals of different backgrounds and ethnicities. This is because a global language does away with the need for interpretations and translations. Also, various platforms such as the Internet tend to use a common language. The Internet, particularly, as a source of information, uses web pages written in one common language. Hence, having a world language would ease how to get information. Another important thing is that the world has grown to be more mobile in both physical and electronic ways. An increasing number of people transport themselves around the globe with messages being sent to hundreds of locations using electronic mail. As such, having a world language eases such level of movement and communication, turning the world into a global village.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
