Adriana N Rodriguez Nov 28, 2007 Th 11-12:30 KIN 325K Lab Reports I. Lab 9 - Exercise Electrocardiogram II. Purpose The purpose of this lab is to introduce the concepts of a normal ECG and to understand the features of a normal resting and exercise ECG. III. Methods The Subject will perform a treadmill tests, following the Bruce protocol. The protocol is as follows: The test starts at 2.74 km/hr (1.7 mph) and at a gradient (or incline) of 10%. At three minute intervals the incline of the treadmill increases by 2%, and the speed increases to 2.5mph; every three minutes the incline and speed increase. This test being a “maximal” test is continued until the subject fatigues. It however must be ended when any of the ACC/AHA guidelines for termination of exercise testing are seen during the test. Materials: Treadmill and ECG reading IV. Results What was the resting and maximal HR attained during the exercise test as determined from the ECG? Resting HR = 68 beats/min and Maximal HR= 187.5 beats/min
