Adriana N Rodriguez Sep. 26, 2007 Thursday 11-12:30 KIN 325K Lab Reports I. Lab 2 – VO2 max: Responses to Increasing Work Rates II. Purpose: Measure maximal oxygen consumption and establish the responses of heart rate (HR) and oxygen consumption (VO2) to increasing work rates on a cycle ergometer. III. Methods The subject will pedal at increasing work rates on a Lode cycle ergometer. The initial stage will be 4 minutes long, followed by three two minute stages of increasing work rate. After ten minutes, work rate will increase every minute until exhaustion. VO 2 , VCO 2 , RER, HR and V E will be continuously monitored through open-circuit spirometry (Physio-dyne Max1). Values will be reported on a 30 second average. IV.
