Reckoning Progression Exercise #4: Ancillary Texts
Now it is time for you to choose one of the 3 essays we’ve been studying together as your
primary essay:
John Berger’s “Drawn to that Moment”;
Teju Cole “A Too-Perfect Picture” or
Susan Sontag’s “A Freak Show” (excerpted)
Choose the one that you think you are most interested in thinking more about. And in this
progression, due to the nature of the texts, it may be that one of the other two texts could function
as an ancillary text also.
Now: skim some of the possible ancillary texts and choose one to work with for this exercise.
