MEMOTo: Dylan SmithFrom: Cindy NguyenSection: 907Date: 11/21/16Re: Lab 11 FailurePurpose: The primary objective of this lab is to understand failure through simple experiments. Procedure: Students are given various failed components and asked to identify the components, type of failure and determine the cause. Then given real world situations, students identified the type of failure and possible causes and solutions to these failures. Results:The results for the labs are enclosed in the attached forms. Conclusions/Recommendations: Failure in mechanical transmission components are one of the most important issues because failure of major components can lead to the failure of the other components in the system and also can lead to injuries and safety hazards. This lab assists students in learning how to recognize the failure in different components and determine the causes and solutions so they can this use this information in preventing failures in the future.
