1 ME 416 Computer Assisted Design of Thermal Systems Excel Tips Curve Fitting 1. First make sure that the data you wish to graph and curve fit is in the current workbook. 2. Highlight the data to graph. 3. Click on the ChartWizard button (looks like a bar graph) on the tool bar. 4. The ChartWizard will now ask for the type of chart to be drawn. For curve fitting one should choose an XY(Scatter) chart. 5. The ChartWizard will provide a sample of the chart and the user should indicate that the data series are in columns. The first column is used for X data, further columns are used for Y data. If the first row has titles, these will be used as the legend graph. 6. Step 3 of 4 allows the user to provide some formats for the chart (titles, axes, legend placement). Use the various tabs to make these changes to the graph. 7. Step 4 allows the user to place the chart either inside the worksheet or as a separate sheet in the workbook. 8.
