Kelsey Jans IBM 301 Professor Anthony Vercillo 2/28/08 Marketing Mix: Product, Price, Place, and Promotion In order for a person to create a successful, rewarding business, a marketer must follow these four steps of the marketing mix: Product, Price, Place, and Promotion. In order for any company to survive, all four components of the marketing mix must be blended in order to achieve optimal results. The company, Rock and Republic, has resorted to using these four steps of the marketing mix over the past few years in order for their brand to climb to the top of the competitive clothing and retail industry. Product: The product is the heart of the marketing mix and is the starting point for many companies. Without knowing about the product that you are marketing, it is hard to design a place strategy or to decide on a promotional campaign and even set a price which will be accepted by consumers. Rock and Republic has a catchy logo which shows two “R’s” Facing opposite Rock and Republic started out small and became well known for their jeans and has continued to grow into a business with many branches. Rock and Republic creates more than just jeans now. The original jeans were designed for a woman to “lift her bum”. A majority of people buy the jeans because of their fit. Rock and Republic has created a unique pair of jeans that has captivated the attention of all fashion critics. Having a unique product is one of the first steps to having a successful business. Rock and Republic has expanded their business to sell a “VB Rocks” brand for Victoria Beckham which sells shoes, eyewear, handbags, clothing and even maternity wear. Rock and Republic’s eyewear was launched in 2002. The sunglasses are well designed, very exclusive, and have been spotted on many celebrities. The most popular Rock and Republic sunglass models are the Maverick and the Apache model. These sunglasses show a fresh and flashy look in the fashion industry.

The company has even introduced a Rock and Republic Leather Puffer Jacket for men. The Leather Puffer Jacket collection is very detailed and a majority of these leather jackets include stud detailing throughout the jacket, a banded collar with two silver metal snap closures, long sleeve ribbed knit cuffs, exposed front zip closure, slanted zip side pockets, ribbed knit waistband, fully lined- interior leather trimmed pocket with button closure, last but not least, the product retails for about $680. During New York Fashion Week, Fall 2008, Rock and Repubic introduced a new collection of floor- length, skin-tight stretchy gowns, and oddly designed suits. Jeans, pencil- thin pants, as well as denim jumpsuits were shown on the catwalk. This company has many competitors including True Religion, Seven Jeans,
