Last Computer Problem Set: SPRING, 2007 Lazy Brown Dog Data: This data set is similar to the types of compensation survey data sets which you will work with throughout much of your career if you work in compensation. It covers 27 benchmark jobs at 60 firms in “high tech” industries. The data set, which is observations on individuals includes: companyid - numeric variable indicating the firm industry id - numeric variable indicating which industry the firm is located in (description provides a description of the industry) jobid - benchmark job classification of individual (name provides the job title) base salary: dollar value of base salary without benefits or bonuses benefits: dollar value of benefits long term dollar value of long term bonus programs short term dollar value of short term bonus programs size number of employees in firm: firms divided into small, medium and large roa return on assets basesale_1 percent of compensation dollar spent on base salary benefits_1 percent of compensation dollar spent on benefits ltidiba percent of compensation dollar spent on long term bonuses stidivba percent of compensation dollar spent on short term bonuses. Job Characteristics: (Jobs are scored on these eight categories) collaboration requirement for collaborative work: rating vary from 0 to 200 experience experience required for position rating vary from 0 to 100 knowledge training required for position rating vary from 0 to 100 effort effort required for job rating vary from 0 to 100 complexity complexity required for job rating vary from 0 to 600 customer customer contact rating vary from 0 to 150 responsibility responsibility of position rating vary from 0 to 200 environment working conditions rating vary from 0 to 500
