MUS 100 Maldonado Concert Report – Salsa Ensemble Yesterday I attended the Salsa Ensemble concert at lunch. It was on November 22 nd , 2005 in University Quad. The environment, other than hot, was… Well… Quite honestly I do not know how to describe it. It is not like it was anything magical. The ensemble prepared and played on the stage while us, the students, watched from on the grass patches and sidewalks. This, I believe, was a chance for yet another ensemble to showcase their talents to the student body and give us a preview of what they are about. The composition I most had a fancy for would have to the one titled “Afro Blue,” which consisted of an “Afro” type beat, so the rhythm was pretty upbeat. Speaking of which, I think the whole concert was upbeat, it being salsa and all. I do not know the composer because, once again, no programs to be found. I was lucky enough to hear what the title was. Featured instruments to play this rhythmically upbeat selection were two
