Proved to be remarkable and effective, pushed for unity in Russia o Mohammad Khatami: Iranian president 1997. Loosened some restrictions of Islamic culture The most important common denominator in all of politic is power: the ability to get people or groups to do what they otherwise would not do Government: referst o a particulat set of institutions and people authorized by formal documents such as a constitution to pass laws and issue regulations etc. State: a broader concept than government that includes all the institutions and individuals that exercise power.
