3/9/06 PLS 201 Bergman Movie Review – “Jarhead” So first seeing the previews of this movie back in October/November, I figured this was going to be quite the movie. Just another war movie telling a story with all realism in tact. After missing it in theaters and late hearing more disappointed reviews than ok ones, I finally see it myself for this assignment. I most likely would have been disappointed had I expected what I expected earlier on. But since hearing reviews I had lowered my standards for it. In doing so I was able to enjoy it. This movie was intended to tell war, or at least this one, from a different perspective, and I’ll respect that. On that note, not much happened in this movie action wise, which is why I would guess people were disappointed. It isn’t a bad movie though. The thing I have seen in most war films on modern day wars is that boot camp is a bitch and the superiors are jackasses. Watching the movie in the beginning and seeing the boot camp process was just crazy. I didn’t know that you could actually die during it, as one soldier did as he was
