1. This weekend you are going camping with your closest friends and family. Thankfully, the layers of your skin will help protect you during this adventure. Discuss at least two ways each layer, the epidermis and dermis, may protect you on this excursion. This weekend I am going on a camping trip! I am so excited. But as the medical student I am, I love to wonder how my body is going to protect me on my adventure. Well, there are the basics like my lungs will allow me to breath at high altitudes and my eyes will guide me. But, the most intriguing organ that I am currently interested in is the skin. The skin is the largest organ of the body. We would not survive without it. It has three layers: the Epidermis which is the top layer, the dermis which is the middle layer and who would have guessed, the hypodermis the lowest layer. Coming back to going camping, I was thinking how all the layers are going to help me on this trip. The epidermis is a water resistant protector layer. This layer protects from the germs and the sun.
