CAS100C Lesson 8 Assignment Part 1: Abraham Lincoln’s second inaugural address During President Lincoln’s second inaugural address he expresses values against war, that it is better to follow the path of God instead of fighting in his name. President Lincoln also talks about the importance of peace in our nation and exaggerates how important it really is. Lastly, Lincoln talks about the avoidance of slavery and racism in attempt to bring both blacks and whites closer together by stating With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation's wounds; to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan to do all which may achieve and cherish a just, and a lasting peace, among ourselves, and with all nations.” During President Obama’s “A more perfect union” speech he expresses values by expressing unity and equality within the world.
