The Cosby Show inspired by a Bill Cosby standup comedy act based on his actual family life. It was a spin off of an earlier show “ A different world”. 1984 to 1992 focused on everyday adventures of an upper middle class African American family, the series restored situation comedy and saved the NBC although the show sparked controversy about race and class. The Cosby Show was almost not to be until NBC recruited Marcy Carsey and Tom Werner to develop the show after a Bill Cosby show about child rearing on the Tonight show. It impressed the network's entertainment chief, Brandon Tartikoff. Despite Bill Cosby's popularity. He registered one of the highest audience appeal ratings in history as a commercial pitchman. Programmers viewed his star potential with suspicion because his television career history was mixed after co-starring in the hit series like “I Spy”. Cosby also appeared in lots of failures: The Bill Cosby Show (1969), The New Bill Cosby Show (1972), and Cos (1976). NBC was concerned about Cosby's viability as a television star and situation comedy's status as a dying genre, Carsey and Werner presented the idea to ABC. But that network was not interested. Reagan carried 49 of the 50 states, becoming only the second presidential candidate to do so after Richard Nixon in 1972 presidential election. Walter Mondale only electoral votes came from the District of Columbia. Which has always been considered a Democratic guarantee, and his home state of Minnesota which he won by 3761 votes and Reagan came within 3800 votes of winning all fifty states. Reagan's 525/538 electoral votes is the highest total ever received by a presidential candidate. Mondale's 13/538 electoral votes is also the 2 nd fewest received by a second-place candidate.
