Chapter 1: Level: Biosphere - ecosystem community- population- organism- organs tissue- cells- organelles molecules. Emergent property : new properties that emerge with each upward step in level, owing to the arrangement and interactions of parts as complexity increases. (The whole is greater than the sum of its parts) Reductionism reducing complex systems to simpler components that are easier to study. Biological systems : model the changing behavior of the biological systems; enable to predict how change in one or more variables will impact other components and the whole system. Inductive reasoning: generalizations based on large # of specific observations. Deductive reasoning : generalizations general to specific “if - then” Chapter 2: Ionic atoms lose/gain e- (atoms have +/-), covalent: share e- equally (neutral), polar covalent: share e- unequally Electronegativity determines the kind of chemical bond that will form between 2 atoms.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
