BOSER EE 42 / 100 Spring 2008 Problem Set 4 Due Tuesday, February 19, 2008 In problems you are asked to verify your result with a circuit simulator. Please follow the guidelines presented in Problem Set 3 which apply to this and all future homework sets. 1. Solve problem 2 of quiz 2 for I 1 = 3 A. Use the values stated in the quiz for elements not specified here. 2. Quiz 2, problem 4: Find the value of I 3 for V 1 = 5 V. 3. Quiz 2, problem 7: Find the value of R eq for R 2 = 10 k Ω . 4. Quiz 2, problem 7: Find the value of R 3 for R eq = 5 k Ω , R 1 = 1 k Ω , and R 2 = 10 k Ω . 5. Quiz 2, problem 9: Find the power dissipated in R 2 . 6. Problem 4.6 in Nilsson and Riedel, 8 th edition 7. Problem 4.15 and verify your solution with circuit simulation. The simulator output (operating point analysis) should include a list of all node voltages and branch currents. Suggestion: Use a program (e.g. Matlab) to solve the equations numerically.
