It goes on to describe the many number of rebels and dissidents who defied the government using social media during the Arab Spring. The main theme of the article is its exploration of how international law gives protections to civilians who violate social media laws to defy their government, and tries to draw a fine line between free speech rights that are universal and the laws created by a state.
