Although the text is effective for informing parents about inappropriate content because of its emotional appeal, it lacks the persuasion needed for MTV to stop airing inappropriate content to kids because it lacks logical appeal. The article is effective when it comes to informing parents about inappropriate content through pathos and ethos; however, when it comes to informing MTV, it is not effective because it lacks financial logos. Even though the article is effective in using ethos and pathos to inform parents about inappropriate content, David Carr ultimately fails to use logos to persuade MTV. David Carr’s article is effective in persuading parents about “Skins” inappropriate content due to emotional appeal; however, it lacks effectiveness through logos in convincing MTV to take down the show because of their large profits. The article is effective in informing parents of inappropriate content because it uses pathos and ethos; however, it is ineffective in persuading MTV not to air inappropriate content because it lacks logos. The text is effective in informing parents of the dangers of the show Skins because of its emotional appeal and credibility through anecdotes and diction; however, it is not effective in persuading MTV its show is harmful to younger viewers because it lacks logical arguments involving money.
