Installing R Commander at home 1. Install R on your computer a. Browse to http://www.r-project.org/ b. On the left-hand side of the page, click on the “CRAN” link under “Download” c. Pick a server (all else equal, the closer it is, the faster the download will be) d. Under “Download and Install R,” click on “Windows (95 and later)” e. Click on “base” f. Click on the setup program (which will be something like “R-2.5.1- win32.exe”) g. Run the setup program and accept all defaults 2. Install packages on your computer (option 1). If you have lots of disk space and a fast internet connection, you can install all the packages at once. If not, skip this step and instead do number 3. a. Start R b. From the menu, select Packages → Install package(s)… c. When the “CRAN mirror” window comes up, pick a server near you, and hit “OK” d. When the “Packages” window comes up, select all of them (select the first one, scroll down to the bottom, and select the last one), and hit “OK”
