Rebecca Tompkins,                 We have talked about in class the specific gender roles that males and females had to fulfill for  this time period, and we also talked about how everything got turned around during the war. Throughout  reading the second part of Charlotte Temple , we see the true duty that a woman had to fulfill during this  time and they weren’t even credited for it. Mrs. Temple decides, “’ Since’, said she, ‘the severest scrutiny  cannot charge me with any breach of duty to have deserved this severe chastisement, I will bow before the  power who inflicts it with humble resignation to his will; nor shall the duty of a wife be totally absorbed in  the feelings of the mother; I will endeavor to appear more cheerful, and by appearing in some measure to
