Rebecca Tompkins                   Throughout Olaudah Equiano’s slave narrative, “The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano, Or Gustavus Vassa, The African, Written by Himself”; Equiano tends to use a lot of pathos.  While reading this slave narrative you pity and you can almost feel the pain that Equiano went through, you realize all of the hardships and heart break that the slaves went through. Equiano talks about when he was a kid and they used to play games,  “Generally, when the grown people in the neighborhood were gone far in the fields to labor, the children assembled together in some of the neighboring premises to play” (Equiano  417). Equiano uses the previous quote to make you recall when you were a child and used to go outside to
