Image of page 1
Case study A patient visited the office reporting a recurring feeling of severe pain. The patient is of African descent, male, and 24 years old. The pain is described as “excruciating” and is centered in the bones and joints. Bouts of pain tend to last for a few hours at a time. A look at the patient’s history shows that his vision has gotten gradually worse over time and that he began puberty at a later than normal age. Looking at his blood under the microscope showed a large number of irregularly shaped red blood cells (Long, flat, and slightly curved).

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
