Tonight, December 16 th 1773, a group known as the Sons of Liberty partook in a political protest in the Boston Harbor—I participated. I was one of the men who dressed up like Mohawk Indians and raided the three ships docked in the harbor. We were very angered by the Tea Act because of the high taxes that were placed on the tea. We needed to act, and we needed to show the British that would not allow them to take advantage of us. We climbed aboard the ships and began to dump all of the shipments of tea that had been sent over from Britain. There were three ships in the harbor that contained crates of tea, Eleanor, Beaver, and Dartmouth. I raided the Dartmouth which had arrived only a month ago on November 28, 1773. To ensure all of the crates will sink a few patriots will go back to the harbor and submerge them if they are floating (Hume 2011). The high tax on tea has existed since 1767 (The Tea Act 2016).
