MARKETING STRATEGIES IN HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY 2 Marketing Strategies in Health Care Industry Introduction Many countries in the world at large are in the process of improving the health care sector for the benefit of human being as well as making it have the-the real competitive advantage. However, this sector has many challenges that are blocking the success and improvement of health care. Like for example, to establish improved hospitals requires valuable resources and equipment as well as well trained professional manpower so as to have a high-quality health care sector. Therefore, there is the need to predict the state of health care in future by coming up with the well-developed strategic plan that will give direction in which the health care sector should take such as using the modern technology to deliver its services. Every Healthcare facility should aim at its original goal of improving individual mental or physical well-being of human beings no matter how much it will cost; competition it faces from others or the period it will take for it to establish. Therefore, this paper will try to look at how Scarlet hospital is using some strategic plan to protect its market share from other competing hospitals. To Scarlet facility is located in a small community in the mountain region of the United States called walnut grove city. The hospital existed for more than ten years before the construction of the highway. Therefore, the scarlet hospital was not established to compete with other hospitals from Salem, which is approximately 50 miles from the Scarlet hospital. By then, the two locations seemed to be separated because the roads connecting them were in a poor condition for many years. The roads were poorly maintained with no single all weather road making the connection between the two places to be difficult (Jenelius, 2009).

MARKETING STRATEGIES IN HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY 3 The establishment of the highway connecting walnut grove and Salem opened a communication network by making it easy to travel from one place to the other for less than 1hour when using a local two-lane highway and about 40 minutes when one is using the modern four-lane interstate highway. This road network made it easier for local people to move from walnut grove area to Salem to look for well-established and more advanced medical services that were not available in walnut grove area.
