A (bad) argument for Substance Dualism (1) I have a clear and distinct idea of nothing else belonging to my essence other than thought. (2) Therefore, nothing else belongs to my essence. (I have no other essential properties other than that of being a thinking thing ) It seems that the conclusion says that ‘having a body’ cannot be an essential feature of me! Only thought. .
