Homework 1: Gnatcatcher PVA ESM 211 Due Mon. Jan. 14, 2008, in class In 201 you were introduced to a PVA of the California Gnatcatcher. For this exercise you are going to read the actual paper describing the PVA, and we will discuss the paper in class, as an introduction to the quantitative issues and approaches that we will be learning about in the class. As you read the paper, think about (and make notes on) the following questions: 1. What type of PVA did they do?

What recommendations do they make for management, and how do these derive from the analysis?
