ESM289 (Spring 2007) - Green Supply Chain Management Deadline: June 7, 8:30am Term Paper Guidelines Objective The term paper serves two objectives. First, it will be graded and make up two thirds of your overall final grade for ESM289 (The other third will be based on class participation). Second, it provides an opportunity to apply the methodology, concepts and tools discussed in class to a set of green supply chain management issues of your choice. The issues that you focus on can be located anywhere in the extended supply chain, i.e. the product life cycle. The only requirement is that you discuss these issues from a systems perspective and thus consider the benefits of an integrated management of business activities within and across supply chain agents. Work flow Based on my own experience in case study research and writing, I suggest that you follow the work flow given below. Keep in mind, however, that some iteration of the tasks is usually necessary, e.g. you may find that you need to do more background research and data collection while assessing and quantifying supply chain performance. Do extensive and sound background research and data collection for the chosen (extended) supply chain (given your time constraints). Identify past and / or possible future supply chain management changes aimed at or resulting in the greening of the studied (extended) supply chain. Rigorously examine (and where possible quantify) the impacts of the studied supply
