Brooke NasonCAS 100CSpring 2017Section 3April 14, yLesson 5 AssignmentPart 1:•Drawing on Chapter 6, what were the general and specific purposes of each of these speeches? Each of these Inauguration speeches given by Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, and Barack Obama were to strengthen the commitment the audience already had for the speaker. (pg. 132) Each of these former Presidents were elected because the majority of the American Cit-izens agreed with their message and believed they were best candidate for the job. In their Inau-gural Addresses they further pushed their messages, encouraged their audience to fight and sup-port the cause, and publicly announced their own deep commitment to their country, while en-couraging the audience to be enthusiastic and proud of their country. •Drawing on Chapter 8, identify the types of reasoning used in specific claims to achieve the purposes of each speech. Use and cite the additional readings for this Lesson, as needed, and any outside scholarly sources that can help you make your claims.
