Long Answer Review 1. Connection between social inequality (class, race and gender) and health. Social Inequality: Exists when attributes when certain attributes affect a person’s access to socially valued resources. Social Determinants of Health: The conditions in which people are born, grown and live. Social determinants of health are largely responsible for health inequities The effects of social inequality manifest on the body with higher rates of stress related complications and diseases. Classism, sexism and racism increase health issues (can lower life expectancy, cause higher rates of disease etc.) Class and Health - The higher one’s social standing is, the better their health should be as reflected by statistics. - People in Canada with a lower socioeconomic status are less likely to visit a physician compared to others. - People who are on social assistance are far more likely to be ill as Canada’s poor health and chronic conditions.
