MARRIOTT INTERNATIONAL2IntroductionMarriott International is a leader in hospitality industry with above 3,800 hotels and 19 different brands. It is founded in 1927, by Willard and Alice Marriott and it’s owned by same family for more than eighty years. After retiring from leading position J.W. Marriott, Jr. is now Chairman of the Board, therefore he left the company in hands of the much younger C.E.O. Arne Sorenson. Approximately 325,000 employees serve as the face of Marriott at their headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, USA as well as in their managed and franchised properties and at business units all over the world. Marriott is now one of the most recognizable brands in the world. Their global presence spans more than 70 countries and territories – from small-town, rural America to major gateway cities, like London, Moscow, Hong Kong and Zurich … and increasingly, emerging markets in Asia, the Middle East and Africa. While the strength and breadth of theirbusiness is impressive, the real story is our people and their “spirit to serve” culture. Dozens of languages are spoken throughout the company, more than 25 in some hotels. Marriott is consistently awarded as best Hospitality Company to work for it because their principles; if you take care of employees they will take care of the guests and then they will always come back (Marriott, 2014). They are recognized by a wide range of industry organizations and publications as a best place to work, mostly because their efforts to adopt diversity and inclusion in their workplace, with their vendors, owners and other relationships.They are committed to make all of our community’s better places to live and work. Marriott started as a nine-seat root beer stand in Washington, D.C. – owned and operated by a young couple, still in their 20s, who spent their honeymoon driving 3,000 milesacross the U.S. in a Model-T Ford. But their determination and pioneering spirit serve them well in the years to come and set the standard for those who would follow them in the business. (Marriott, Jr., 2013)
