Week 2 INITIAL POST Research Priorities in Transforming Nursing Leadership Healthcare is changing rapidly and due to the constant change it is challenging to predict what skills, abilities and knowledge that will be most critical to leaders of health care organizations. The Affordable Care Act has changed the healthcare system, in the primary care network, integrating inter-professional collaboration to maximize positive patient outcomes. I find working very closely with physicians in the Primary Care Network, advancement in education and sharp clinical knowledge as well as taking initiative as a leader is imperative. A priority for transforming nursing leadership is advancement in nursing education. In order to be part of a complex integrated team approach for healthcare, it is imperative to have a solid advanced educational foundation accompanied with leadership skills. According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (2007) “preparation begins with a solid foundation in the liberal arts, which allows for the development of problem-solving skills, an ability to interpret and manage data, the use of knowledge to develop critical thinking skills, and the application of social, economic, political, and ethical concepts to patient care problems.” I believe in order to
