WEEK 4 INITIAL POST Population health is defined differently for individual health organization as each organization delineates their specific population different depending on various factors. Weinstock (2015) stated "population health and consumerism are two very broad terms, and they mean different things to different people" (p. 48). The universal goal amongst every organization is to improve population health outcomes. How do we get there? Kindig, Asada, and Booske (2008) proposed a guiding framework that included the following health determinants: access to health care, individual behavior, social environment, physical environment, and genetics. Serious mental illness is defined by the 5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V) as "having a diagnosable mental, behavioral, or emotional disorder, other than a substance abuse disorder, that results in serious functional impairment."
