Government Regulation of Business EssayGovernment regulation of businesses but not government ownership and the regulation by the Federal government should be limited by the constitution and only implemented when the state governments cannot protect the citizens themselves, no desirefor territorial expansion, world peace through conciliation, arbitration, and judicial settlementWill continue to regulate businesses but not own, continue to try and keep world peace through compromise and disarmament, economy in public expenditure, isolationism, effective reorganization of the departments of the Federal government, “expansion of publicworks”, and “promotion of welfare activities affecting education and the home”.Although the relief, recovery, and reform laws may have differed on effectiveness, they all changed the role of government towards being bigger and more Democratic. Roosevelt’s Administration spent massive amounts of money for the purpose of direct and work relief. These actions not only shaped the role of government into one that had higher government expenditures, but also made certain portions of the American populace dependent on the government. In a broad sense, this made the government bigger, but more specifically, the government became something that would look out for the needy at all times. Similarly, the recovery laws passed by Roosevelt’s Administration showed how the government could pass many laws and take drastic measures when in times of need. Instead of following the “hands off” approach of their predecessors, the Roosevelt Administration passed laws that allowed for a more engaged government, one that would not only provide relief but also regulate across the board. Finally, the reform laws changed the role of government towards being bigger as well. Although many were eventually
deemed unconstitutional, the legislative branch still showed its new powers in passing more laws that regulated the economy. The relief, recovery, and reform laws passed during the Roosevelt Administration changed the role of government towards being bigger and more Democratic through increased government expenditures and more regulation.Although there is the government-business cooperation there is also other federal regulation which comes from different sectors of the government such as the administrative agencies. Such agencies include the Bureau of Cooperation’s and the independent commission. These regulations specifically combined and define the function of the administration, poly making and the adjudications. An example of the commission that execute these regulation is the interstate commerce commission which was authorizedwith some powers to work with the then formed agencies namely Federal Reserve Board and Federal Trade Commission by dealing with the specific industries or specific problems that the industries might be tempted to be doing.
