Students will contrast the results from the graphing calculator with the applet. Students will apply the Multiplication Rule. Students will draw inferences from conditional probabilities. Part I: SIMULATING A RANDOM PROCESS LaunchPad is needed for the bottom of this page. 1. In lecture the graphing calculator simulated coin flips. Record your data below. # of Flips Expected Proportion of Heads Actual # of Heads Actual # of Tails Actual Proportion of Heads 10 .50 6 4 .6 60 .50 27 33 .45 110 .50 49 61 .44 2. Access Statistical Applets: Probability in LaunchPad (between Chps. 12 & 13). 3. Now use the applet to complete the chart at the bottom of this page. 4. Adjust the Number of Tosses slider to 10. 5. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
