Persepolis The art classes weren’t there, but she was drawing all her life o Learning to draw pictures and tell a story came later o Started as a painter, became infatuated with pop-art o She made humorous comics o Main characters were always male characters Thought that she could become Dracula if she ate raw chicken, got worms Art Speigelman’s mouse comic inspired her She started trying to make children’s books o A lot of work into children’s books. o Nobody wanted her children’s book o Decided to change careers Started making Persepolis, once that became popular her children’s book became popular Very successful in France, but she realizes that it is a universal story for people to empathize Who’s idea was it to make it a movie? o Her friend came up with the idea o Started coming up with ideas and then found herself tied to the project Lessons and ideas she learned from making a graphic novel into a film o Has to work with many other people o Hated everyone at first o She realized that everyone put their souls into the project o Made it for 8 million dollars Who helped her understand the film language?
