Orange data mining tool developed by Bioinformatics Laboratory at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science, Slovenia. It is an open source data visualization and analysis tool used to mine data through visual programming or Python scripting. Some of the features included in the software are elements of machine learning, add-ons for bioinformatics and text mining for advanced data analytics. Orange boosts ease-of-use by implementing a graphical front-end interface and offering a number of widgets with usability including reading data, training predictors, comparing learning algorithms, visualizing data, etc. With univariate linear regression analysis, Orange data mining is primarily used in biomedicine, bioinformatics, genomic research, predictive modeling and recommendation systems. It is also used for educational purposes with implementations in teaching machine learning and data mining for biology, biomedicine and informatics students.
