2 During the helping process there are three main phases that a professional must follow, they are as follows: Assessment – Gathering and assessing information Planning – Plan development Implementation – Monitoring service delivery The significance of case review is very important and can help the professional get important information about their client. “In gathering data, the helper must determine what types of information are needed to establish eligibility and to evaluate the need for services.” (McClam & Woodside, 2012, Chapter 1) This is the gathering of information phase and the first step in the helping process. Report writing and documentation play an important role during the helping process. Keeping accurate records and delivering high-quality, relevant, and concise documentation will help others understand what issues need to be addressed. It will also be beneficial for other services or resources a client may need. Client participation during the
