Monitor community’s behavior so that everyone lives a moral life iii. Constantly doing good deeds d. Everything’s going towards a “new birth experience” i. Have a personal awakening ii. Feel divine infusion in your life e. Many puritans want to  purify society by staying within (England)  f. Separatists – want to separate from eng. To purify their church i. 1620 102 separatists left England ii. Aka pilgrins iii. Est colony at Plymouth iv. 1630 pop grow to 1500  2. Great migration- 1630s a. Puritans under attack in England so they come to New England b. Get a colonial charter to start a colony called Massachusetts Bay Colony i. Start first colony in Boston ii. Under leadership of john Winthrop 1. Establish most radical form of government = republic
