Men working in highly masculinized environments are much more likely to engage in violence in their family. o The general issue is, Are violent people just more likely to work for the police, army, or violent athletics? Some research has shown that the case is that people with criminal background are more popular at the enlisted level. Research on Rape o Riding the Bull at Gilley’s o o Date Rapists: Differential Sexual Socialization and Relative Deprivation. o These individuals are more likely to perceive themselves as sexually deprived because they have higher aspirations than most people, and therefore believe they are not achieving what they want to achieve. Research on IPV o Patriarchal Terrorism and Common Couple Violence: Two Forms of Violence against Women. o o The Myth of Sexual Symmetry in Marital Violence. o Studies based on violence were flawed in a lot of ways. o They used a conflict tactic scale. o They look at this in particular because there are issues with this measurement. o Since many studies that study marital violence use this scale they are more looked at because there are issues with the scale. o
