HRM Functions 2IntroductionIt is evident that the primary function of Human Resource Management (HRM) is to increase the effectiveness and contribution of employees, so an organization can reach its goals and objectives. There are several components of HRM such as: Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action, Human resources planning, recruitment, and selection, Human resources development, compensation and benefits, safety and health, and employee and labor relations that work together to perform the primary function for its organization. There are manyreasons why the combination of these components working together will help an organization to reach its goals and objectives however, some of the components are more important than the others. I believe the HRM role can be optimized for shaping organizational and employee behavior because I believe any and everything has room for growth. New Learnings After this course, I feel I better understand the components of Human Resource management and their purposes. “Human resource management (HRM) is the managing of human skills and talents to make sure they are used effectively and in alignment with an organization’s goals” (Youssef, 2015, 1.1). Human resource makes sure everything is in place and ensures everything runs properly. HR main purpose is to keep everything in line. I learned that human resources make sure the EEO and Affirmative action regulations are enforced by ensuring each employee and/or applicant have their fair shot. “Today, the EEOC enforces laws that prohibit discrimination based on ethnic background, religion, sex, national origin, disability, or age. These laws apply not only to employee recruitment and selection but to

Affirmative action ensure organizations are showing the initiative to hire individuals of diversity. “For example, affirmative action policies require that employers show initiative in recruiting a diverse pool of applicants for their job openings. Organizations where women and minorities are underrepresented are required to expand their search efforts to include more women and minorities in their applicant pools” (Youssef, 2015, 4.5). I learned that Human resource development helps the organization improve itself from within. In order for the organization to be successful all departments must continue learning and growing also. “This basic belief will ensure that organizations achieve their goals and are successful. Human resource development as an important function in the organization can help inrealizing its objectives by creating a competent, dynamic and motivated employee force. The success of HRD function depends on the top management’s commitment and support” ( Mohanty, 2016, pg. 323).
