A --0 to 18 cm; dark brown (7.5YR 4/2) silt loam, light brownish gray (10YR 6/2) dry; moderate medium granular structure; friable; many fine roots; moderately acid; clear smooth boundary. (3 to 18 cm thick) B/E --18 to 33 cm; reddish brown (2.5YR 4/4) silty clay (Bt); common faint reddish brown (2.5YR 4/4) clay films on faces of peds; occupies about 75 percent of the horizon surrounded by tongues of brown (7.5YR 5/2) silty loam, pinkish gray (7.5YR 6/2) (E); moderate medium and coarse subangular blocky structure; friable; common fine roots; neutral; gradual smooth boundary. (8 to 25 cm thick) Bt --33 to 53 cm; reddish brown (2.5YR 4/4) clay; strong fine angular blocky structure; firm; common fine roots; common distinct reddish brown (2.5YR 4/4) clay films on faces of peds; neutral; gradual smooth boundary. (10 to 46 cm thick) BC --53 to 80 cm; reddish brown (2.5YR 4/4) and grayish brown (10YR 5/2) clay; moderate thick platy structure parting to strong very fine angular blocky; firm; few fine roots; slightly alkaline; gradual smooth boundary. (0 to 38 cm thick) C --80 to 152 cm; reddish brown (2.5YR 4/4) clay; moderate thick platy structure parting to strong very fine angular blocky; grayish brown (10YR 5/2) varved layers; firm; common
