According to the textbook, nurses in various settings are adopting a research-based (or evidence-based) practice that incorporates research findings into their decisions and interaction with clients. How do you see this being applied in your workplace?Evidence based practice and research has been pivotal to nurses in modern days. We have come to rely on our critical thinking skills and make clinical decisions based on what we have learned. When evidence based research began being applied to the clinical setting evidence-based practice (EBP) resulted in improvements in patient care, satisfaction rates, and significant reductions in morbidity and mortality rates. Patients have their unique preferences when making decisions about their care but the inclusion of EBP has allowed nurses to expand patient education to best practice using current evidence to guide them. Evidence based nursing has become the standard for nurses in addition to using their healing expertise. The application of the best known, peer reviewed research allows us to provide the best care possible, a concept that began long ago with Florence nightingale.
