THE PREWRITING PROCESS 2 The Prewriting Process Introduction Professor Richard Hackman is a professor of social and organizational psychology at Harvard University. Hackman conducted research to investigate the secrets of effective teamwork in areas field such as airplane cockpit crews, productive and service teams, strong administration teams, and musical ensembles. During his study, Richard identified some few conditions that must meet for successful teamwork to be achieved. Such conditions of teamwork state that the team must real have the compelling direction for its functions and team must have structures that initiate collaboration. More so, teamwork must have support from organization’s context as well as having experts for giving extra coaching to the team members. Moreover, the research indicated that the teams are more efficient when membership is well described and stable over time giving a predictable trend of its functions. Therefore, this paper will attempt to look at prewriting process in writing reports and other documents. Furthermore, 3x3 writing process involves three phases; the first step-prewriting involves analyzing, anticipating, and adapting. The second step-writing requires some research, composition, and organization. Lastly, step three involves revising, proofreading, and evaluation. However, this paper will deal on prewriting where the writer needs to analyze by answering the purpose of the message and how it will be delivered to the audience (Kimberly Epting, Gallena, Hicks, Palmer, & Weisberg, 2012).
