Sarah LunettaProf. Tonia PasswaterMusic 130020 April 2017Concert EssayOn April 19thI had the pleasure of attending a concert with my classmate Devorah. The concert was held at Barbès, a small performance space run by two French musicians in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn. Prior to attending the concert Devorah and I researched the upcoming musicians visiting the space. Out of all the musicians the group which sounded the most appealing was a quartet of players called Animule Dance. The program read:The Animule Dance plays dusty old songs from classic jazz and blues repertoire in a way that brings the musicians personalities to the fore. With their imaginative playing, sweetsinging and plenty-swinging arrangements, they are sure to move the most obstinate feet and please the most discerning ears. (program 3)With this description so enticing we decided to research Animule Dance and see what they had to offer. Located on their Facebook page was
