The role of the financial is to maximize a shareholder's value. A shareholders' wealth is represented by the market price of a firm's common stock. The financial manager should seek to maximize the present value of the expected future returns to the owners of the firm. In an efficient market, a financial manager maximizes stock prices and identifies and implements projects that add value to the firm (i.e. projects that contribute more than they cost). Lastly, financial managers also raise financing by issuing financial instruments that cost less than the financing raised. To become a financial manager one needs a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or business administration is often the minimum education needed for financial managers. However, many employers now seek candidates with a master’s degree, preferably in business administration, finance, or economics. These academic programs help students develop analytical skills and learn financial analysis methods and software, in the ever changing world of technology. The median annual wage for financial managers was $121,750 in May 2016. The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $65,000, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $208,000. There are some important qualities one needs to become a good financial manager like: Analytical skills - Financial managers increasingly are assisting executives in making decisions that affect their organization, a task which requires analytical ability .Communication skills -Excellent communication skills are essential because financial managers must explain and justify complex financial transactions.
