-1 Lesson 2 Chapter 3 Compare and contrast these three descriptions of the American character. Are they mutually exclusive or are they complementary? All three descriptions of the American character somewhat coincide with one another in the ways that they describe America as a nation and Americans as the populace of that nation. These descriptions are definitely complementary, in fact, the description by J. Hector St. John Crèvecoeur and Michel-Guillaume-Jean de Crèvecoeur contained some of the same phrases. This all shows the vigor and sense of pride that was felt by the European immigrants for the country of America that they could call their home.
